封面说明：山西榆社盆地常银的新近系地层，邱占祥院士于1997年8月10日拍摄。榆社盆地的新生代晚期地层发育良好并富含哺乳动物化石，其上新统最具代表性。由邱占祥率领的国际研究团队在榆社盆地建立了我国第一个有丰富哺乳动物化石和古地磁控制的完整的上新统剖面，并命名了中国陆生哺乳动物分期的早上新世高庄期和晚上新世麻则沟期，以此为基础发展为中国年代地层系统的高庄阶和麻则沟阶并成为代表整个亚洲的标准。本专辑特此祝贺邱占祥院士90华诞。
Cover image: The Neogene strata at Changyin in the Yushe Basin, Shanxi Province, were photographed by Academician Qiu Zhanxiang on August 10, 1997. The late Cenozoic strata in the Yushe Basin are well-developed and rich in mammalian fossils, with the Upper Pliocene being the most representative. The international research team led by Qiu Zhanxiang established China’s first complete Upper Pliocene section with abundant mammalian fossils and paleomagnetic control in the Yushe Basin, and named the Early Pliocene Gaozhuangian Age and Late Pliocene Mazegouan Age within the Chinese Land Mammal Ages. Based on the two ages, they developed into the Gaozhuangian Stage and Mazegouan Stage in the Chinese chronostratigraphic scheme and became a standard representing the entire Asia. This special issue is dedicated to the 90th birthday of Academician Qiu Zhanxiang.
