封面说明:甘肃临夏盆地早中新世山旺期古城动物群的生态复原图。青藏高原隆升等诸多因素带来的亚洲内陆干旱化使早中新世晚期的临夏盆地呈现为相对干旱的灌木-草原环境。古城动物群由3目7科13属16种小哺乳动物组成,其中大部分属种都首现于早中新世。新命名的古城中华鼠兔是该属最晚的代表。详见本期王伴月等人文。(绘图:陈鸿博)
Cover image: Ecological reconstruction of the Gucheng Fauna from the Early Miocene Shanwangian in Linxia Basin of Gansu Province. The aridification of Central Asia, caused by various factors such as the uplift of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, resulted in a relatively arid shrub-steppe environment in the Linxia Basin during the late Early Miocene. The Gucheng Fauna consists of 16 species across 13 genera belonging to 7 families within 3 orders of small mammals, most of which first appeared in the Early Miocene. The newly named Sinolagomys guchengensis represents the latest member of its genus Sinolagomys. See details in the paper by Wang et al. (Illustrated by Chen Hongbo).
